For more than 75 years, the Martini family winemakers have crafted wines from Sonoma and Napa counties. Michael Martini, 3rd generation carries on the tradition. 100% Cab, aged in French oak (75% new) for over 2 years. Deep Ruby, aromas of red/black fruit, complex spice with smoky notes. Flavors of blackberry and currants with an earthy character adding a array of spices. Fine tannins, opening nicely, long finish, ending with notes of fruit, cacao & tobacco. Still has room to age.

100% Cab Sauv from Sonoma and its a beauty. Aged for 27 months in about 80% new oak, majority French, with a bit of American oak. Aromas of black fruit, spice and cedar. On the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry and currants with notes of licorice, tobacco and cacao. Great mouthfeel (high alcohol), full-bodied, ripe big tannins, well balanced on long lingering finish ending with smoky earthy character. Wow!!

Still very primary and young, but already approachable after a considerable decant. Dark fruit, luxurious and bountiful oak, ultraripe tannines and relatively low in acidity. Not jammy at all, very well balanced, gorgeous wine.

Tight. Drank over three days. Long time ahead to age and get better. Appassimento style. Interesting in its way even at this young stage.

2013 Louis Martini Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma. Lets give it a taste: spicy raspberry bouquet. Red and black sour fruit on the beginning slowly mellowing into an oaky Earthy following. The finish comes much later as a tongue curling, slightly sour dry finale. This is a very young wine for its time. I needs to mature in order to obtain and reach its potential complexity.
