Refined, enjoyable and impressive. Maintains its natural color and looks elegant. A sensational combination of lively light fruits and a present structure of earth and tannin that maintains its balance, control and texture. Unexpected how good this is.

After dumping a corked 97 vintage of the same I upgraded to the 96. Glad I did. Dark and murky, almost opaque. With air this goes bing cherry and spice. Notes of black cherry, pepper spice, wood, earth and a little mocha. Masculine. Shows that 96 acidity and some pucker. But it’s up against a big core of fruit that’s powerful as well. Long finish. This can probably improve with more age but is nice tonight.

Sep 29th, 2019Dark tawny. Funky nose, maybe a flaw. Rich masculine wine. Oak heavy nose. The flaw mostly dissipated over the night to reveal kirsch and cherry notes. This didn’t show as well as some other 96 Jadots that I’ve checked in on recently.

Not ready at 26 years old, but the structure and complexity show hints that this is going to be a monster of a wine. Looking so fresh in the glass. After 2 hours in the glass, it finally decides to show a little of what it can be. Nose of minerals and raspberry mixed in with vanilla. Velvety texture, lush and sweet, amazing structure and balance with long mouthwatering finish.
