Lokoya
Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
A socially distanced night catching up with friends while enjoying some fun wines. Posting what I was able to get pics of!
Served blind and decanted for about two hours. You could tell it was starting to shed some fruit as the oak tannin was fairly stiff, while accompanied by dark fruits but also a lot of floral and earthy notes. Fresh potpourri, lavender, ripe blue and black fruits, and a touch of fig to show its age. The ripe profile on the palate had me thinking 2007 vintage and the big structure meant it had to be from one of Napa’s mountain AVAs. There is a streak of graphite/mineral down the palate with added dark fruits, dark cocoa, and grilled plums. Integrated but very powerful at this stage. Thanks @joe leatherwood .

Badass in a Glass to say the least. This 2007 is in full stride and is showing perfectly. Sitting squarely in Blockbuster Territory!

This one is crafted beautifully and could easily see how you could drink this young but why waste the money you spend to acquire this wine. It need 10-15 years to flush out its beautiful fruit, amazing florals, minerality, soft spice and baking spices. Their 14’s are amazing wines.

Feb 5th, 2018This is just starting to hit its good window, beautiful dark cassis, it’s nicely intergraded, well layered baking spices with round velvety tannins. Read a recent post on this wine the other day that mentioned it was syrupy. I will only tell you there was no syrup in the bottle poured at the Estate.

Feb 5th, 2018Dark rich fruits, violets, lavender and barrel shavings on the nose. M+ tannins and medium acid. Dark cherries, blackberries, black plums, creamed darker raspberries, anise, dark chocolate, pronounced crushed dark minerals, sweet leather, dry stems, violets, lavender, rich dark soils, wet stones. This is another wine that has it all; structure, balance, tension, great length and very polished finish.

Jan 14th, 201706' Lokoya Spring MT. Another wine that you truly appreciate after several years in the bottle. Quite tannic in it's youth. It certainly has come together now.
Purple in color. Full bodied & made in 100% new oak. The oak is certainly well infused with this Spring Mountain Cab. Gorgeous black and blue fruits. A bit of sweetness/earthiness. Polished tannins & a finish that seems to go on forever.

Fan-freakin'-tastic!!
Still young but great balance, gorgeous aromatics, well integrated wood tannins and just utterly pleasing on the palate.
When Napa performs like this...oh my!
