Aromatisk, fruktig och lättklunkad med mycket burkpäron. Något för fet och oljig för att vara riktigt intressant dock.

Have you visited the Logan Wines cellar door in Mudgee yet? I hear through the grapevine that this little Pinot Gris is one of the most popular wines at their tasting room.

Unfortunately, we haven’t yet made it to Mudgee, however sharing the bottle with my older brother Logan, must be the next best thing right?

The Weemala range from Logan Wines is their little sister range which all retail for a wallet-friendly $20 a bottle (there’s also a Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir). The name Weemala is what their vineyard in the central ranges of NSW is called and it’s also an Aboriginal word meaning ‘good view’. I definitely want to check it out someday.

The bird on the label is a Silvereye, which has they say is the ‘scourge of the vineyard’.

We enjoyed it as an aperitif, however, the tasting notes say that it matches well with “virtually anything food-wise from Japanese dishes to Greek food”.

Here’s what the tasting panel, headed up by Logan, said about it:

Pale golden shade in the glass with wonderful aromatics rising up from the glass. Think pears, apricots, peach and whiff of salt air. While in the mouth it’s virtually like biting into a peach with a wonderful lick on ctirus. More please!

This bottle was sent to me directly from Logan Wines as a sample.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Bit of skin contact to add a touch of colour and some texture. Bone dry and crisp, with some soft Turkish delight, a hint of strawberry and some subtle citrus and apple. It’s really nice.

The missus said she could feel it moving down her gut in a good way. 2014 vintage.

Highly aromatic pear and orange citrus, but fresh, a bit fatty and cloying on the palate. Lots of interest though.
