The 2015 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard is pliant, supple and beautifully perfumed, with all of the allure it showed from barrel. Plush and dense on the palate, the 2015 is arrestingly beautiful today. The big, potent tannins are nearly buried by the sheer resonance of the fruit. This is an especially dense, virile expression of Platt. I imagine it will develop beautifully in bottle fore many years to come. Littorai's 2015 captures all the pedigree that has made Platt one of the most highly regarded sites on the Sonoma Coast. Masterful, per usual. Platt can be enigmatic at times, but with a little air this is ebullient, and transparent in every sense. A notably fragrant, lifted nose of sweet red fruit entwined with savory and floral complexity. The palate shows the same sweetness but also a cool elegance, a silky texture with integrated tannins, and barely perceptible oak; this is classy and light on its feet but not shy. Paired with a mushroom borscht which echoes the vinous, savory complexity of the wine, and walks the same line between delicacy and richness. A gorgeous wine which expresses balance not as a mission statement but as the simple result of gentle treatment from vineyard to bottle.
