Apr 28th, 2019Every time I have these wines, I’m reminded why I enjoy them so much. This balances the line between Walla Walla funk and Napa fruit bomb style Syrah. There is some bacon fat, stem and olive upfront on the nose but enough black and blue fruit to bring in some sweetness. Fuzzy and lively on the palate with smoked wood, peppercorn and mulberry. My friend @TheSkip introduced me to Lillian a year or two ago and I’m so glad he did.

Apr 27th, 2019With the next Mailing List offer arriving this coming week it was time to check in on some of the older stash.
Despite the cork coming up in two pieces this is the best bottle to date.
Everything in the right place and for a CA Syrah at 15.3% with 10+ years of aging that requires very special winemaking skills (at least for my palate).
Maggie ROCKS!!
@Delectable Wine Your location app (still) has issues.
I searched for “City of Napa” and got Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as suggestions....??

15% ABV.
On day 1 this was simply showing too concentrated, sirupy, smooth and flabby for my liking.
Day 2: while still intense it has mellowed down considerably, now with some refreshing structure and backbone emerging allowing it to be enjoyed (at least by this humble palate).
I think this wine primarily will please the “Big & Bold” fans as a pop n’ pour but that shouldn’t be a surprise given Maggie’s past at SQN.
(if you haven’t tried them already and think Maggie Harrison only is a one trick pony you should try her Antica Terra Pinot’s from Oregon. A gifted winemaker!).
