Mid Lemon in colour with a slight tinge of green amazingly. Aromas are of profound intensity of white peach and nougat. Barb also said honeysuckle. Those notes are carried through to the fulsome mouth filling palate with a citrus note to accompany the peach and nougat - finishing with nice cleansing acid keeping the wine fresh with a bitter note inviting you to take another glass. Sadly my last bottle from the excellent 2007 vintage. Proves this wine can go the distance in good years.

When this was opened, we all heard the “crack” from the screwcap and turned around to see what could have been under the cap. This snapped us to attention when poured as it was a gorgeous medley of honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, powdered lemon bar, tangy pear and ripe guava. Slightly herbal, but still strutting oak, this was richly integrated and showing very well.

Mid Lemon. A nose of citrus but a palate of stone fruit. White peach and cream. Palate staining intensity with great length. Oak is totally integrated into the fruit at 9 years. Used to be regarded as Australia's premier Chardonnay and probably still is depending on your style preference. Other Margaret River icons plus Giaconda , Oakridge and Bindi amongst others in the East also vying for the mantle. World class. Halliday once compared the 1987 to a premier Cru Puligny.

07 Leeuwin art chard: bright and youthful appearance, no premox here! ; cx bouquet of white stone fruit, nectarine, iodine salty wood tang; easy almost gentle entry, medium weight palate of cx fruit w oak prominent but not too loud, easy finish, med length. Nice wine, perhaps without the intensity and dramatic impact I associate w Leeuwin art.
