Le Marie
Dolcetto
Inky purple, the soils and climate here must contribute as the Barbera I recently had from them was also exceptionally dark.
Vibrantly fruit nose, plums. Palate was a bit rustic for me with a drying finish, though just medium weight.

This is DOC Pinolerese, a hilly area in western Piemonte. And it’s a style of Dolcetto that takes me back to a time when Dolcetto producers didn’t try to do too much. Crunchy nose has tons of pungent crushed stone and vivid purple berries. Even a little floral note. Intensely zingy dark berries hit the palate, which is bone dry and very stony. Cleansing finish with a slight, pleasant bitter note at the end. Great value.
