Maybe it’s in a shut down phase or maybe my tastes have evolved but this wasn’t that great or my style at all. I remember loving this wine when it released. Even after 24 hours the fruit struggled to come forward. This was savory, leathery, earthy and gravelly. Medium bodied. Eh. It wasn’t bad, just nothing I would reach for again. I have a few more in the cellar so will revisit again in a year and see if it - or I - have changed.

09' Larkmead LMV Salon. 63% CB 16% CF 5% Malbec & Merlot.
Two hour decanting & it's still a bit tight. So much going on in this wine. Even more so than Russell's EE last night.
Big boy Red ... dark berries, mocha, unlimited layers in this wine. 10/15 great years in it.

Dark ruby Color, nose of cherries and red fruits, body presents some fine tannic structure that over time melts into the red fruits and decadent cherry. Needs some time but patience will be rewarded.

This really benefited from the 3 hr decant as the aromas just soar from the glass. Blackberry, pipe tobacco, sweet oak, and Napa valley floor. A healthy draw from the glass provides a delicious palate coating orchestra of black raspberry/dark currant, tobacco, and hint of peppercorns. Still youthful tannins frame the palate and help provide a lengthy finish. Just wow. Many years of life ahead, glad to have more.
