Jan 15th, 2015Brilliant light garnet. Delightful nose of bramble fruit, menthol and a savory hint of bacon fat. Full bodied, balanced with assuring acidity, full fruit flavors and a medium finish. For $19 it's tough to beat. 14% abv.

Feb 28th, 2014Nose of dark berry jam, smoke, roast beef, black pepper, and some sort of earthy/mentholy/floral note. Quite nice.
Blackberry and strawberry jam but at the core of this wine is this smokey, meaty, peppery quality. Medium acidity and soft tannins.
I'm typically not too fond of these 14+% wines, but this is good. Holds the alcohol well, it isn't over oaked, and it has nice varietal typical secondary complexities. I'm more and more impressed with these "new" Australian wines that aren't jammy oak bombs.

Feb 29th, 2020Patience young padawan.... this was horrible when first opened. At 15 minutes it had an overwhelming menthol vibe.
At almost an hour it is actually very nice. Light body for a Shiraz- think the Viognier lightened and brightened it. Once it opened up, I get a nice cigar box balanced with a touch of mint versus straight up menthol cigarettes.. less fruit forward than most Shiraz I’ve tried. Leans toward the more tannic side, but it’s a pleasant dryness when balanced with a smoky and spicy profile.
Would but again if the price is decent.... but make sure I have time to let it breathe... a lot.

It’s so nice when the colloquialism is explained to you on the front of the label isn’t it? A mild crimson color with purple hues. The nose is exceedingly fruity with raspberries and plums with smoke and menthol showing, as well. The Viognier shines with some beautiful violets there. You typically know what to expect; very big and bold. This goes for a bit more refinement and nuance. This starts off sly and a little shy but builds up to a powerful climax. Funky on the tongue with blackberry, leather, stewed plums, and clove cigarettes. Spice on the finish. Probably the softest Australian Shiraz I can remember tasting. Pretty stuff.
