Patience young padawan.... this was horrible when first opened. At 15 minutes it had an overwhelming menthol vibe.
At almost an hour it is actually very nice. Light body for a Shiraz- think the Viognier lightened and brightened it. Once it opened up, I get a nice cigar box balanced with a touch of mint versus straight up menthol cigarettes.. less fruit forward than most Shiraz I’ve tried. Leans toward the more tannic side, but it’s a pleasant dryness when balanced with a smoky and spicy profile.
Would but again if the price is decent.... but make sure I have time to let it breathe... a lot. — 9 days ago
Enjoyed with dinner. Dark fruit and baked goods come through. Not super bold for a California cab, but that makes it pleasant to pair with food. — a month ago
Will buy again. Chocolate and cigar smoke balance dark juicy fruits. A great California cab. — a month ago
Really delicious and interesting. John and I got almost no fruit, unlike some of the other ‘jammy’ reviews noted. Maybe the food pairing? We were surprised to see that when we went to jot down tasting thoughts... both noted it was unusually un- jammy for a zin as well tasted it. Will but again. — 15 days ago
Had a glad at Fleming’s. Okay, not great. A bit too much tart fruit for me. — a month ago
Nope. I had half a glass and gave the rest to my husband. To be fair, he enjoyed it. I found it to be a very tart, acidic and overly tannic. If you can get to the flavor of the grape past that, I think there was some mocha? Will not buy again. — a month ago
Decent- wouldn’t go out of my way to buy again. — 21 days ago
Smells like coke and smoke. Lots of tabaco and leather in the flavor. Finishes with a woody note. Very pleasant. Juicy without too much fruit. — a month ago
Enjoyable. Don’t remember the price point, but will buy again if a good value. — a month ago
