Last night we opened the 2016 La Spinetta Ca' DiPian Barbera D'Asti. From Castagnole Lanze, Italy.
On the nose there is strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, black cherry, licorice, spice, violets, vanilla and dried leaves.
On the palate I am getting blackberry, black cherry, plum, licorice, some menthol and it has herbaceous notes.
This wine is medium + to full bodied with medium to medium + acidity and medium + fine grippy tannins that leave you with a medium + to long red and black fruit finish. I hope everyone's new year has started off in a positive way. Please as always stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

It is Thursday night and tonight the wine I have opened is the 2016 La Spinetta Ca' Di Pian Barbera d' Asti.
On the nose is black cherry, plum, strawberry, incense, violets, anise and earth.
On the palate there is cherry, strawberry, plum, anise, dried leaves, baking spices and wet earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied fresh clean in the mouth with medium + acidity and medium to medium+ fine mouth filling grippy tannins tha gives into a long fresh fruit earthy finish. Carne Asada wine. Still nice pop of fresh blue/black fruits and just a bit of that prune/fig action. Solid little number in the low $20s.

Solid easy drinking and wonderful. Nice linger and fresh fruit. Alcohol is a bit pronounced but it’s still comfortable in the mix.
