Heavy red fruit and vanilla. The oak and fruit mesh seamlessly. Nice tannin and acid structure, everything perfectly in balance. Maybe lacking complexity but super enjoyable.

1973 vintage. Ethereal aromatics. I think La Rioja Alta is the master of the American oak treatment--subtle and delicious vanilla. 1973 is a top Rioja vintage.
