Tasting group. My 3rd, group 5th. Quiet. Hints of something green. Emerges with time in the glass. Integrated. Plums. Tad aldehydic, VA mentioned by others.

Old Pousse d’Or can do no wrong! Great to find on the terrific Saison wine list. I believe this was one of the master Gerard Potel’s first vintages. Perfect condition, with a great fill, it comes out of the gates with a stunning bouquet of dried red fruits and roses, sous bois and potpourri. The palate although not the most concentrated, shows incredible elegance, vibrancy and complexity, with a seamless transition to its persistent finish. Quintessential aged Burgundy. A lovely bottle.

Relatively pricey, but incredibly balanced and delicious. A bit lacking character and depth. But the balance more than makes up for it

Believe in Pousse d'Or. I'm not real high on Santennay, but this was the ultimate test of how sweet a vineyard Clos Tavannes is. So intact. Precise flavors and long generous finish. Not the wine night, but if we handicapped the race, it would have.
