La Onda
California Syrah Cinsault
Great acidity, red fruits and stems. Youthful. Seems like all those stem tannins would be pretty interesting in another 5+ years. Slightly elevated VA but it works. Excellent mid-palate; could use more on the front end. A thoughtful wine however.

Sep 13th, 2019Marriage of fruit rock and va. Leathery blue fruited and slightly tannic. Very much reminded me of Clos Saron deeper shade.

Aug 23rd, 2015This wine snuck up from behind, crossed the finish line in first place. I doubted. It's another Syrah... I didn't see it coming. Floored, shaken, impressed. Tiny production now and I'm sure the best is yet to come. Watch this space. La Onda!

Aug 6th, 2015The El Colo bottling from La Onda, 2018 is mostly grenache & mourvèdre w/ a lil syrah all from David Girard vineyard in El Dorado. Natural wine done beautifully, just a hint of funk and VA backup the fresh red fruit and garrigue. Enjoyed chilled but was just as nice as it warmed up. First time having a La Onda wine, but any project involving Gideon is worth trying. This one is a winner, great summertime red. 🍒🌿🐎
