La Marea
Kristy Vineyard Albariño
Produced by Ian Brand from the Kristy Vineyard in Monterey County. The label notes the soil type as fractured sediment from ancient sea bed. At a respectable 13% alcohol, it's surprisingly lean for a California white, with notes of white flowers and wet shell. Lovely zingy acidity, followed by star fruit, lime zest and a touch of salinity on the finish. Great texture and length!

May 22nd, 2014Excellent Monterey Albariño. Citrus, pear, slate, even wet stony minerality on the nose. As good an Albariño from the states as I have ever had. Good job Ian Brand!
