Incredibly long. A tannic monster, but some lovely violet, roses, tar, spice, and finally a bit of fruit. Terrific brunello that is drinking exceptionally well now.

Victory speech wine. 2008 for the last good year of change/Obama. Smoky cassis. Cherry. Hint cloves/tobacco. Love it. Great length. Would rate higher but may be influenced by the situation.

Follows perfect after 1995 antico. Same tobacco nose but much more red fruit. Hint of olive which throws me off but very good.

After fantastic wine tasting at Calais with that amazing Ruisseau and new Cantegral, and the new 16 Gaston, we're kicking it off here in FBG! This 08 Brunello is interesting to say the least. The nose on this Brunello is good. No, DAMN good. Black cherry and herbal notes abound. This wine enters rather smooth, still with INCREDIBLE youth. Black cherry and herbal goodness with a hint of tart raspberry in the middle. The middle of this wine is a little undeveloped....it just didn't show after an hour of air, but the front and rear are so good! Finishes smooth. Tannin and acidity are still out of balance just a wee bit. Gonna give the other bottles a couple of years!

Whoa! Big girl wine! Love the tobacco and peppercorn notes on the nose, with hints of morels and cedar bark. Big and broad on the palate, black cherries break out on the palate, giving way to gourmet caramel and fresh plums, and finishing with anise root and beef bouillon. Be good to checkout in a few years, but just a teenager right now.

Cherry liqueur, figs, balsamic, graphite, cigar box, dried thyme, cedar. Excellent sharp acid/wide rough velvet tannin grip, juicy texture, full bodied, lengthy dry herbal/smoky finish. Unmistakably Italian, excels with tomato based sauces.

Very nice medium-bodied and smooth Brunello that's drinking well with just a touch of air. Wish I had more.
