2005 Croix de Beaucaillou Saint-Julien - ripe fresh and delicious right now but a shame to waste because it's got so much potential. Glad I used the #Coravin it's got tons of life left and I've still got another bottle. Hold for 10 yrs.

Ducru numero dos, drinking very well right now with elegance and purity. A classic claret the 2005 is not peaking but probably 2-5 years from it depending on your bottle. #ducrubeaucaillou #saintjulien #bordeaux

Classic Claret, Ducru#2, a go to #Bordeaux for me in any vintage.

Not as splendid as when I had it last year, but then I did fuck up the accompanying meal somewhat. Still very young though, with a promising future.

This 2005 vintage is known as a great year,Bold yet perfectly ready to drink, refreshing acidity, wood scented tannins&dark fruits lingering on the palate for long time.Ideal pairing to wagyu beef carpaccio with black truffles!

Awesome as usual, my 3rd encounter with the legendary 2005 vintage. Classic roasted coffee nose, intense cherry, currants, licorice and mint with crushed rocks. The palate is intense and youthful, drinking well now but easily has another 15 years. Ripe tannins are full bodied with good grip. #2005 #DUCRUbeaucaillou #Bordeaux

The Bordeaux I've had over the last six months has, I must admit, left me sceptical as to why Bordeaux is so brilliant. With the exceptions of Chateau La Cardonne 2003 and Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste 2001, much of the Bordeaux I've had has left me disappointed. This bottle however reaffirmed to me the beauty of the region. Just an astonishingly good wine - 2005 of course being an excellent vintage - whose only let-down lay in my not opening the bottle a few years later; the wine would definitely benefit from a good five to ten years' more age, to soften the tannins and allow a longer finish. I am however being fussy. It was fantastic.

Another day, another vintage of Ducru. Similar to the 09 in that it got better with air. Man, the difference between the two 05's is amazing. 2nd label has far less new oak, less green, less concentration, I appreciate it far more than 1st label.

Maybe it’s silly to post a second wine from ducru, but... this is pretty darn good. Beautiful nose, complex flavors of blackberry, anise and oak from start to finish. The real thing must be AMAZING. 2005 rocks
