Final wine from our tasting at Antinori just outside Florence in their state of the art facility. All 3 wines matured in French or Hungarian Barriques. Initial barnyard aromas which blew off to reveal florals like lavender and peony. Oak is perfectly balanced and does not intrude in any of the 3 wines tasted. This district is not traditional for Syrah (only since 2000) but suits it perfectly - sandy soils. More savoury and meaty than fruit driven.

Aged in new French oak. Pure Syrah. Inky ruby coloration. On the nose, dark cherry, cassis, minerals, earth, leather, vanilla. On the palate, full bodied, rich mouthfeel, dark berry, cassis, spice and loads of chocolate. Long chocolaty finish. Tannins have mellowed significantly. $60 at total wine.
