A dream of 2 brothers, in 1999, Jan and Bart founded Krupp Brothers, producing their first vintage: a Cabernet Sauvignon. A blend of a blends 36% Tempranillo with red Bordeaux varieties. Deep red with ripe berry aromas, some herbs and licorice notes. On the palate, blackberry and sweet cherry flavors with notes of cacao and espresso. Approachable tannins but this needs long term aging. Lingering rich finish.

This may be the most interesting vintage of The Doctor to date with 12% Sangiovese added to the blend. It helps lift otherwise dark and brooding varietals like Tempranillo. Paired beautifully with Christmas beef tenderloin!

Tonight was the 38th Big Taste of Fort Worth in honor of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Great wines and phenomenal food pairings. Went through about 25 wines tonight, so I'm only highlighting my favorites.

I've had this once before (visited them back in 2015, beautiful tour up at Stagecoach) and forgot how nice this Tempranillo is. Napa style Tempranillo is a nice change of pace from having lots of TX Tempranillo here. Tannins are nicely integrated...felt extremely balanced. Nothing was hot about it.

This is 44% Tempranillo and this vintage has 12% Sangiovese which has lifted the acid. It's a nice blend.

Oh my god. Had to retry since a year ago. This really rounded out beautifully on a kitchen sink wine. Literally everything good in the new world thrown in and really showed spectacularly. Nice spice profile from Tempranillo with plenty of petit Verdot and Syrah robustness. Love the doctor!!

2004 vintage. Decanted with very little sed and tasted after 45 mins and 1.5 hours. Initial richness in the frontal palate but the mid-palate decided to nap. Finish glided along without speed bumps. Really nice but not great. 7.19.24.

2016 vintage of the The Doctor. Deep purple Cherries, earthy. Very smooth. No aftertaste.
