1988 vintage. Medium golden hue. Fresh and primary nose - no oxidation. With air, the fruit becomes more lemon vanilla . On the palate, incredible balance - perfection itself if a little too perfect. Great length. A perfect ‘88. Stunning. Drink now until 2030+

Tasting notes on Krug can never really capture the magic so I won't try....but I will say that vintage Krug always (always!) lives up to the hype and I appreciate anything that lives up to expectations. A generous, expressive, classy, sleek bubbly that helped me usher out a '16 that I was more than happy to push roughly through the door. If you're "not a fan" of champagne try Krug. It's transcendent.

Big and powerful. I prefer more elegance and finesse.

Ambrosially toasted caramel, marmite & brioche. "Please, sir, may I have some more?"

Tawny in color. Slightly stinky on the nose. Soft hazelnut, marmalade on the palate with mellow toastiness and real energy as a spine. More salinity and steel than the 85 alongside. Lovely stuff

1988 vintage. At Elystan in London. Deep golden hue - Sauternes like colour. Nose is remarkably fresh, possibly due to recent disgorgement date direct from the House. Almost closed until the wine warmed up, displaying butterscotch and honeysuckle, citrus notes and lemon curd. On the palate, huge waves of acidity keep this wine incredibly youthful. Great concentration and depth to the wine. Long finish. The stand out feature, for such an old wine, is the balance and elegance here - super harmonious. Still has a long way to go - drink now until 2023+++.

Wonderful thought-provoking bottle. Golden and unctuous. Highly perfumed and flavored. Dried apricots, lemon/lime oils, a lot of nuttiness. Minerals and earth sneak in there with touches of honeycomb. Bright finishing zing and a two minute finish. There is a lot of nuance as well under the big flavors.

Rocking. A beautiful nose. Some hazelnut and a lovely balanced mid palate. Acid and fruit all in place. Gorgeous stuff
