100% Sangiovese from Chianti Classico region which was aged 24 months in oak. This wine has aromas of cherries, roasted tomatoes and a hint of sweet tobacco. Medium-light bodied, and not overly flavorful. It starts out fruit forward but tertiary flavors of clay and clove come through as it opens up. These tertiary flavors linger for a surprisingly long finish. Great value and paired well with a spicy pepperoni pizza! ($9) [5/26/16 ]

Lots if red cherries, cranberries, tomato leaf, tobacco, dried roses. Ample acidity and moderate tannins.

Kirkland Signature, Chianti Classico Riserva, 100% Sangiovese. Villa Cafaggio estate. Black cherry, cola on the nose which is little closed. Blackberry, cola, leather and a little licorice on the palate. A little tannic on the finish but overall pretty well balanced. Not many $9 Chianti Reserva that drink this well.

Ruby in color with medium intensity and a light red rim.

Fruity nose of plums, cherries, currants, vanilla, wood, cola, earth, green vegetables, spices, forest floor and peppercorn.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity, and spicy with nice legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, plums, cranberries, earth, wood, vanilla, licorice, bitter vegetables, herbs, earth, forest floor and black pepper.

Short, tart finish, with soft tannins and sour cranberries.

This Chianti is earthy, not complex, unbalanced, and a little flat and tart for my taste. Nonetheless, a good food wine and will pair well with pizza.

It needs 30 minutes to open up and show some tannins. Easy drinking with a watered down mouthfeel.

100% Sangiovese grapes are grown in the Chianti Classico region, and aged for 24 months in oak barrels.

13% alcohol by volume.

It's great when you open the Costco Chianti someone brought over because you need a cooking wine, but it actually turns out to be a lovely middle bodied red with some subtle citrus undertones.

This is not a fascist wine, plenty to share for everyone in your party. A classic Chianti Classico at a seemingly socialist price. Enjoy!
