Fairly light in flavor, possibly because of higher regions. Oak characteristics, fairly strong legs, notes of raspberries, orange peel, and earthy components. Very smooth finish. Nice for a cheaper selection

Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, black currants, plums, barnyard, oak, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, coffee, spices, vegetables, earth, wet leaves, bitter herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, blackberries, black currants, wood, bitter herbs, spices, green vegetables and peppercorn.

Medium on the finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a simple Malbec from Mendoza. Not fully balanced with mild complexity and a harsh mouthfeel. A little bitter on the ending.

Would probably benefit from a year or two in the bottle. I usually prefer to let these young Malbecs open up for 3 hours, but I did not have that luxury this time.

Better with food than just by itself, and would pair well with BBQ Meats.

Grapes are grown at around 3,000 feet elevation, and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

83 points.

$11.

My go-to Costco wine. Low acidity and mild dark fruits with enough earthiness to make more interesting than average $7 bottle of wine.

Lovely nose of raisin and sweet tobacco once the wine is allowed to open up. However this wine is surprisingly thin and one dimension on the pallate with light flavors of grape jam which fade quickly. Definitely improves with time in the glass, but still the '15 is a disappointment when compared with the '14. Paired with BBQ chili and stuffed bell peppers! ($7) [8/29/2017]

This Malbec starts with aromas blueberry and baking spices. A tad harsh with reduction fault upon opening, it's worth noting that this wine actually greatly benefited from 30+ mins of decanting. After this it exhibited mild tannins, rich black fruit and a bit of vanilla on the off-dry pallate. Paired with, what else, some Game of Thrones. Overall, enjoyable and affordable! ($7) [6/6/16]

Dark fruit, dried leaf pile, vanilla. Oak was too prominent after opening up.

Not bad for Costco. Aromas of cedar and vanilla with smooth flavors of black fruit.
