Kirkland Signature
Gran Reserva Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo
Really pleased with the Kirkland Spanish offerings as of late. I'll give this an edge over their Rioja Reserva. Smooth and elegant. Mild tannins hit you on the finish. Goes great with the burger and continues to compliment the cigar I'm smoking. Mild oak comes through, cinnamon and baking spices. Really enjoyable Gran Reserva for $12. Try to find another Spanish wine of this quality and price point. Give credit when credit is due

Oct 16th, 2017Everything about this guy is intense. The nose (once you get past the alcohol) is bright red fruit, jammy black fruit, spicy spices, baking spices with vanilla, and sweet tobacco.
First taste is a fountain of intensity. Like pouring honey-thick dried black and blueberries into your mouth. My mouth is shocked by the power of the tannins and immediately pleased at how smooth and polished they are(French oak, American oak, bottle aging, everything!) Also having a chalky slatey quality there is just so much for the mind to look over. Absolutely mindnumbing intensity. It's like that double nitro stout that you can barely finish one of but is so rich and delicious you muscle your way to the bottom of the glass. As intense as this is, I would want a nice bright dish to pair with this, with comparable acidity. If I did something creamy or fatty and rich I would get buried in a bottomless sea of richness and palate fatigue.
For the price I paid, great value.

L'ho trovato a Kona Costco. Questi e' il mio favarito. Mi piece il presto veramente ($12). Costco lavora bene, vorrei dare bravo! Voglio prendere alla prossima volta quando lo trovo.

Oct 13th, 2024I’m always interested to discover new #costcowines. For the price a really nice wine especially if you enjoy the bigger Napa style yet with some Old World sensibilities. Black and purple berry jammy nose, touch of vanilla and spices from new oak. On the palate the 15% ABV does show through - this is a hot wine without a lot of acidity to offset the fruit and booze; no tannins really on the finish.
