Greeces Nebbiolo. Red fruits- cherry, goji, craisins, mulberry- marjoram, tarragon, tomato paste and hint of leather. Formidable structure.

Maybe my first Greek wine. Medium bodied with tons of red fruit upfront, some spice notes, powerful tannins and great acidity. Tasted blind I thought it was a Grenache at first but couldn’t place it. A fun, easy drinking wine.

Crazy floral nose with a perfume split between notes of Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo. Crunchy tannins definitively lean more to the latter!

Wow, what a stunner! This Xinomavro has so much energy, is fruitdriven but with a strong tannic backbone. Sooo good!

So the Greeks do make pretty good red wines. Never found one this good in Greece…so surprise! Good enough, not great, light to medium palate not balanced but really bright, tannic, light berry though somehow fitting flavor… settles down, opens up better for a pale red Greek experience. Had it at a new (?) to me) too hip but nevertheless great food restaurant Aba in Austin. Greek wine now? I’d still buy Italian…

This needs to breath. And age. Going to buy a few more bottles and let them sit for a few more years. After it breathes, it’s awesome. Dry. Earth. Hints of leather. Stewed red fruits. We oddly had it with chili and was a great companion.

Decant for a few hours. Bouquet of ripe cherry, pie spices (cinnamon, clove), vanilla, black pepper, later stewed cherry tomatoes and summer herbs, then saffron and almond extract. Sharp tannins! Tart cherry, cranberry, vanilla, marzipan on the palate. Strong rusty brick color, medium-bodied red. Unique and interesting to try out. Good for red meats like burgers, ribeye, spiced grilled lamb or goat.
