Not my kind of wine - rich and ripe with ample new oak.

Sometimes your food just calls out for plush fruit. I ordered Szechuan Cumin Lamb take out, and initially poured a glass of my Gattinara from last night. Huge mistake. The dish made the wine taste like pungent fermented armpit juice. So I opened this. Bingo! Rich, pure dark berry fruit. A touch of graphite. Absolutely pillow-like texture. Beautifully pure and ripe in the mouth, but with a touch of stoniness in the finish and decent acids. Perfect foil to the deep pungency of the lamb.

Medium/deep Ruby. Interesting nose initially of cinnamon thyme and sage but with more air developed the typical Clare Valley Eucalypt/menthol nose. Medium to full bodied palate of ripe berry fruits - rich and pruney. Softening tannins and good length. Very good drinking now but will not improve.

Very ripe and now with some age becoming porty. Medium to soft reasonably silky tannins. Drink last one soon.

Starting to fade - surprisingly thin and light - nowhere to go - looked back at my earlier note on this wine from April - might have been a dud bottle

Age has made all the difference here - would never guess it's 16% ABV.

2000 vintage - a stunning wine with a gorgeous rich nose and huge fruit - surprisingly more age character than the 03 tasted recently

Drinking beautifully, black cherry dominant, a bit of balanced sourness, tannins subtle but in place
