A solid Super Tuscan. The Syrah comes on first, with fruity and savory character that goes down easy. Red plum, tobacco, white pepper, and a little leather make for an interesting quaff. Yum!

Charles Smith takes on Cayuse fruit. 80 Cab 20 Syrah. Pretty clean, with just a hint of rocks funk. Holding up fine, but not really evolving.

80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah. Rocks District Fruit. Dark red/purple color. Expressive aromas of black cherry and crushed stones. The palate is more plum fruit driven with additional notes of roasted herbs, Earl Grey tea and baking spices. Touch of vanilla on the long and velvety finish. Wonderfully balanced. With a bit of aeration, this wine is remarkably refined yet still quite muscular. Well crafted.

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Syrah (20%). Walla Walla (Rocks District) fruit. Dark purple color with a ruby rim. Lovely aromas of dried cherries, black plums, Earl Grey tea, iron, cardamom and black pepper. Same fruits on the pallet along with hints of black currant, black olives and that ever present touch of black pepper. Just a hint of mint on the finish. The Syrah really shines through on this one. Mouth drying (but smooth) tannins. Soft texture with a nice balance of acidity and alcohol. Aging beautifully! Revisited in March 2023. Still outstanding!

Great balance on this wine. Beautiful fruit and depth but so smooth on the palate. A joy to drink.

HWT - A nice full bodied wine but not nearly as good and jammy as Motor City Kitty! Especially not for $55 but if it were 1/2 the price I’d pick it up.

Archive entry from last month...
Decent - a bit bright and Syrah heavy but a decent wine. Surprised it didn’t mature more in the bottle.
