Thungersheimer Scharlachberg Müller Thurgau Kabinett Juliusspiltal 1983, Germany
Light golden in color with a wide see thru rim.
On the nose, lemons, citrus, grapefruits, minerals, tropical fruits, diesel and spring water.
Light to medium in body with medium plus acidity, watery and a little creamy.
Dry on the palate with lemons, grapefruits, citrus and light cream.
Short finish with almonds and limes.
This 34 year old Müller Thurgau Kabinett is drinkable, but had better days...
Showing a watery mouthfeel with nice balance, but very little fruit is left. This was more for the experience than the taste. And a great experience it was!
Needs 30 minutes to open up.
On the bottle it says 9 to 12% alcohol by volume, but I think it's in the 11% range.
I enjoyed it with escargot in spinach sauce.

The vintage 1971 in Germany speaks for itself--a true legend and amongst the very finest of the 20th century! Regardless of grape varietal, magical wines of perfect balance were produced throughout the major regions and they are still incredibly vibrant at nearly 44 years of age. This stellar #Sylvaner #TBA from perhaps #Würzburg's top site, Stein, was mind-boggling--rich, very concentrated and intense with a chocolate/caramel impression and a seemingly endless finish that resonated well after one swallowed it. Another astoundingly youthful bottle from the legendary #LudwigBalz collection--and half a bottle to boot!
