Jules Desjourneys
L'Interdit Gamay
Seems almost mythological in its amalgamation of Gamay and tannic structure. A little too close to something like Christian rock music.
For $50, you could buy a Beaujolais that's juicy and acid-driven as well as a Burgundy that's structured and age-worthy. And if you absolutely must, you could mix the two together. I admire the effort and the attempt at innovation, but there's good reason why others don't do this. If Beaujolais was a tattoo. No one will confuse this as crowd-pleasing or hedonistic, and I mean that in the least faulting way possible. It was certainly interesting.

Nice age on a “unallowed” Fleurie - great depth and fruit right at open!
