In a word: QPR. OK that's three words but that's what immediately comes to mind when I drink this. Nose: blueberries, baking spice, and pie crust. Palate is red and black berry bramble with an oaky medium bodied finish. Tannins already smoothing out- should be even better in a year or two. $40 online. Competes with wines 50+% higher.

Sourced mainly from Alexander Valley fruit, this blend is balanced and a bit lighter bodied. Red fruit character predominates. At $40 this is a bargain relative to many of its Napa and Sonoma peers.

The verdict? GUILTY. Kind of like the raccoons in that Geico commercial. Burnt hair and mango chutney? I can't get the $&@!-out-of-my-mouth. I would've ranked this over-oaked-dill-bomb lower if the scale would've allowed.

Not as dense and compact as the 2011 vintage, by any stretch. Tails off with tart cherries. Good tannins and acidity. The framework is there, but the building lacks furniture and color.

Beautiful, dark, acid, each sip is a nice ride.

Great floral notes in the ๐Ÿ‘ƒ and ๐Ÿ‘…. Great performer for the dough.

Not the most complex wine, but they really nailed the fruit and oak. One of the better Cab deals around.
