Josh Cellars
Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Fruity nose of plums, strawberries, oak, licorice, spices, coffee, cola, pencil lead, aluminum and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with plums, strawberries, currants, vanilla, licorice, cloves, bitter herbs, spices, green vegetables and black pepper.
Medium finish with soft tannins and tart raspberries.
This California Cabernet is simple and not very balanced, but better with food. Soft mouthfeel without enough structure, and a little bitter on the ending.
On the lower side of an average red wine, but not offensive either.
Probably past its peak, or maybe it wasn't stored correctly.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

I don't know if my palate has changed or if the quality of Josh has changed, but I used to like this wine quite a bit and now not so much. Seems very thin, unexpressive and most of all so typical. Oaky, fruity, a little chalky pepper in the mid palate I like before it ends more suddenly than a Coen Brothers film.

Strong harsh tannins on medium finish ending with oaky notes. Not my style, for a few $$ more try their North Coast, much better. Tasting Sample.
