Though delicious and fruity, the 1990 is past its prime. The wine had an amazing aroma when opening, and the first sips were better than when it opened up. All in all, delicious and balanced. The fruit is still nice 28 years later. Compliments to Phelps, some of the best California wine in my opinion.

'90 Phelps Insignia; dark purple-red; nose of cassis, black cherry and cedar; ripe BlackBerry and cassis fruit with silky mouthfeel, long finish of fruit, sweet tobacco and a bit of herb. Sensationally integrated and lovely at age 25. I won't ever find that price again!
