Great wine, very true to its terroir — you could see the classic RSV notes all the way here. Feminine, elegant, finessed and very gentle. Darkest of cherries, stewed strawberries, autumn forest on a sunny day after rain. Love it!

1999 vintage comparison of two producers. All had the complexity of the year and region. One corked Drouhin (CdV) and one corked Taupenot-Merme (MSD). But back-ups were available.
Stars included the T-M Chambolle Musigny and Charmes Chambertin with great balance and wonderful forest aromas, and the Drouhin Clos de Vougeot and Charmes Chambertin with growing richness and a touch of saline.
Some had only a brief arc of balance, but the GC's were pleasing throughout the evening.
