Having just attained it's drinking credentials at age 21, this Mosel Riesling sang with a mid-day Thanksgiving repast.
Medium gold color. Aromas of quince paste, grilled apricot, warm stones and a deep caramel/roasted note. Balanced, though likely too sweet for many these days. Just integral and composed, a unit in and of itself.

J. J. Prüm’s 2009 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett sports a fairly vibrant green / yellow hue. Soft, caressing aromas of cardamom and Earl grey tea take some coaxing from the glass, alongside lemon meringue and red apples. A faint hint of petrol completes a nose that’s complex but also incredibly youthful - hard to believe this wine is 12 years of age.

The palate is quite sweet, showing quite fruity for this style and tasted blind I would have likely guessed Spätlese. But it has great breadth and mouth filling acidity. Again, I am fairly astounded by this wine’s youth. I perhaps expected more tertiary notes - will it ever age?

Lovely complexity on this bottle. Tangerine oil, almondy cherry pit, tremendous length. It shows even better on day 2

Ripe yellow fruit, candied dried fruit, slight petrol, decent acidity and minerality. Needs more time. Still Prum good.

There are two types of wines: the type that runs shit and the type that eats shit. And this wine is tops.

Juicy acidity and sweeter than a typical Kabinett... intense aromas of ripe apricot and white peach, confirmed on the palate along with saline and melon

Cheesy fermentative overtones give way to a site-typical amalgam of fresh apple garlanded in honeysuckle and heliotrope. This is another of those Prüm Kabinetts that is watery in a positive sense of that word, combining watercolor-like transparency and wash of flavor with delicacy and refreshment. As with the corresponding Graacher, the finishing sense of wet stone and floral perfume is striking, and here a mouthwatering hint of salinity adds significantly to the appeal.
