Likely not an ideal bottle with what I felt was excessive volatile acidity. Nevertheless, the red fruits and spices were still clear, and the velvety texture was quite delightful. Finished with bright acidity and an acetic-mineral mix. Probably a showstopper if pristine.

Really nice at 5 years. A little funk, a little green. Deliciously juicy mid palate.

Night 1: Nose is carbonic leaning at first with purple raspberry and grape candy but unfolds to cranberry, pomegranate and violets with some mineral, smokey accents. Palate is clean and medium weight, with some sweet baking spices on the finish. There’s a really pretty breezy, weightless quality to this as it airs.

Night 2: Runaway mousiness. The fault seems increasingly prevalent in natural wines many of which cost upwards of $30/bottle. Frustrating. Finish this in one sitting unless you’re not sensitive to mouse taint.

So incredibly pure and delicious. It almost transcends the grape signature. It’s my favorite of the four right now.

2012 vintage. Doesn't look good (cloudy and very evolved color), but smells and tastes good if given some time in the glass. Candied strawberries in the nose. Smooth and velvety, not very complex, but a nice drink. Serving it slightly chilled gave the best results for me.

After realizing I’d never had a Beaujolais bottle before, I decided to find a top quality one to give a try. This is an “old vine” version from a very reputable producer.

Reddish purple in the glass but a bit translucent. Very candied and floral on the nose! Candied plum, orange zest, and cherry jolly rancher too. A wonderful entry and mid palate with notes of granite, cherry gummies, potpourri and an herbal note...maybe oregano? Very low acidity, and short finish. A fun wine to try and use as a benchmark/standard.

Brooding and broad sholdered. A fantastic display of fruit and structure. The nose wasn't quite as expressive as some of the other wines but I feel it could keep aging and come around.

Brilliant deep ruby - quite dark for gamay. Lovely spice, violet, red flowers, cranberry, raspberry liqueur and a nice earthy, forest floor note. This wine has surprisingly vibrant acidity and soft tannins - good with food and probably even better in a year. I made salmon with a soy, ginger and orange glaze and it was a terrific match
