Vieilles Vignes Morgon Gamay

Absolutely delicious. Smoky and fruity.

Slight Brett tempers the black cherry fruit. Solid structure.

Not quite as awesome as his '12 Cote du Py but let's be real...old vine Morgon don't mess around.

Bit of lightness on an otherwise off-day.

My 2nd, group 2nd, initially quite youthful, showing ripe, really grapey, youthful fruit, later it showed some coffee aromas (think coffee beer stouts/porters), which was weird as heck (but 2 other tasters picked up the same aromatic note on their own), this seems VERY RIPE for Burgaud (2009 vintage), but it all works!?!?

This was my 5th, group 4th, initially I loved this, but as I aerated the fruit dropped, tannic structure emerged, and it seemed merely good, not great?!?!

With some air this went from unsubstantial to lush and cherry-fruited. A nice little Morgon from one of my all-time favorite vintages in the region.

Nice cherry. A bit tight at this stage. Maybe better in a year or two.
