Jean Francois JacoutonOne of my new producers in the Rhône. What a nose. Essence of Syrah. Grapey, tweed jacket, so earthy and mineral with huge blackberry and raspberry fruit. Even cassis. Loads of spice. Soaring nose. Palate is super supple, with loads of game, fresh pepper and blackberry fruit. Suave tannins and devastating purity. Amazing velvety tannins and such feral and gamey depth. Lovely freshness. Good structure and will age effortlessly for 10 years.

Dec 10th, 2019This is currently closed and rigid, but it's a very special wine in the making. Incredibly aromatic; very pointed, detailed and precise on the nose. Quite feral and mineral on the palate at the moment, earthy and structured, but there's so much concentration and intensity underneath. I can't wait to check in in 5 years. Love this producer, long time cellar master for Durand brothers.

Apr 2nd, 2020Pick this for something approachable and detailed. Pours a definite Syrah and Syrah being particularly idiosyncratic in many profiles, this happens to be a good one. One I like. Fruity and welcoming and just fine before dinner alongside cheese and olives.
Pours slowly - velvet ribbons in crimson purple. Soft and chewy. Singing...songs of raspberry, blackberry, cedar, cinnamon, and spends some time in metallic mineral corner of the periodic table.
