Spritzy but otherwise on point

Vintage 2014 | Natural wine with minerality and totally transforming with food. Extremely good. Paired with chicken and morels | at Le Grapiot in Pupillin | it was on the wine list without a year, the cork revealed 2014

Out of the gate the nose has great lift and tells you this wine is au naturale. Funk and fizz in the best way possible. Flavors of crunchy raspberry, potting soil and minerals. Great acidity. Definitely not a pop and pour wine.

Too much brett for my tastes.

Echoing what others have experienced- I am a huge fan of ganevat estate stuff but the initial fizz and funk of brett on opening (and then even after 3 days because couldn't drink it day 1)covers up the glimpses of amazing quality of fruit. I found this a pale shadow of what could've been really delicious. I suppose other bottles kept perfectly could be great - this one was just too damaged by brett éviscération to be enjoyable for me. Sacrilège to fanatics, but my truth.

2016 masterful drink in 3+ years

I can see this wine being controversial a lot of other than fruit character toasty oak wood cherry fruit mahogany wood - wouldn't have guessed Gamay.

Quirky and kinetic, this wine is very much alive and full of energy. Tart cranberries wrapped in mushroom phyllo form an intriguing and unexpected alliance of flavors. I would love to get more!

I know I'm supposed to love this for geek factor alone but was a bit dirty diapers to me. Needed decanting to deal with the fizz. I didn't give it enough time.
