Jean François Ganevat
De Toute Beauté Nature Gamay
Out of the gate the nose has great lift and tells you this wine is au naturale. Funk and fizz in the best way possible. Flavors of crunchy raspberry, potting soil and minerals. Great acidity. Definitely not a pop and pour wine.

May 19th, 2019Echoing what others have experienced- I am a huge fan of ganevat estate stuff but the initial fizz and funk of brett on opening (and then even after 3 days because couldn't drink it day 1)covers up the glimpses of amazing quality of fruit. I found this a pale shadow of what could've been really delicious. I suppose other bottles kept perfectly could be great - this one was just too damaged by brett éviscération to be enjoyable for me. Sacrilège to fanatics, but my truth.

Nov 17th, 2017Quirky and kinetic, this wine is very much alive and full of energy. Tart cranberries wrapped in mushroom phyllo form an intriguing and unexpected alliance of flavors. I would love to get more!

2 people found it helpfulApr 19th, 2015It seems like the blend for this may change from vintage to vintage so it was hard to track down accurate percentages. Around 70% Gamay (from Morgon/Fleurie) with a bunch of other indigenous Jura varieties (could include some Petit Béclan, Gros Béclan, Geusche, Argant, Peurion, Portugais Bleu, Isabelle, Enfariné). The fruit is crunchy and spicy, well defined, with good minerality. Other reviews from past vintages mentioned Brett but I didn’t pick up any of that here. Enjoyable bottle.
