Jasci & Marchesani
Janú Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
On the nose black cherries, cooked strawberries, plums, licorice, coffee, spices, oak, dark chocolates, black pepper, tobacco leaf, vegetables, earth, light barnyard and light balsamic reduction.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, spices, earth, vinaigrette, tobacco, herbs, dark chocolates and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a tasty red from Italy. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. A little oxidized on the nose, though.
This 9 year old is still drinking nicely, but was probably better a year or two ago. If you have one, drink it now.
Alcohol is nicely integrated by now. Tasty and rich, very tangy and extracted.
Good right out of the bottle.
Thank you Elvira for sharing this with me.
A good food wine, but good by itself too. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
15.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

You haven’t had anything quite like this. Chocolate, burnt soil, sweet ripen blueberries and blackberries. I think I need a stack of flapjacks to pour it over.

Nov 16th, 2017A deeply concentrated woodsy wine, with gobs of dark chocolate liqueur, vanilla syrup, and deliciously ripe black cherry pie. Evidence of strong new oak in every whiff and sip. Very nice wine.
