Gorgeously oxidized aromatics, complex and alive throughout the evening, developed wonderfully with air. Especially and surprisingly vibrant on the palate, almost fresh and nervy. What was especially intriguing was how the mature, rich broadness of the aromatics played with the tense acidity and the complexity of flavors and textures. Dense yet airy, light yet dark, sturdy yet lively, a study in "how is this possible"? Time has been kind to this, and descriptors such walnuts, brine, toffee, chalk, coffee, lemon creme, ginger, banana bread only begin to hint at what an experience it was. Grateful for this mind altering look at time, place and grape.
