Nov 28th, 2019Total Wine employee recommendation for a Napa Cab under $20. Not bad. I'd buy again. Aeration did it good.

There are a few layers and it's slightly smokey, but it was the slipperiest red wine I've ever tasted, practically no tannins. If that's to your liking, then you'll like this. I prefer a cab with more grip and body. It improved slightly with food, but not enough to buy it again for $20. I have no idea why this is TotalWine's #1 wine. Maybe for those who are entry-level.

The palate tried to show off underripe fruit flavors but was overpowered with spices, oak and tannins. This full body wine has harsh tannins, with a medium(-) finish, out of balance. Will not get better with age. Pass, many others better at same price. Tasting Sample.

Fruit forward with no spicy and a body too light for my taste. I purchased based on it being the #1 recommendation by Total Wine and am disappointed.

Taste: Sweet but thick, with the fruit (currants/cassis) immediately present, followed by hints of coffee, and ending with a nice finish of caramel chocolate. The finish is long and particularly impressive--like you just ate a caramel. Nice wine, but lacks any mouth watering spice. Nice taste, but almost flat.
