What can I say? Perfectly aged Brunello from a great producer. Great color and perfectly integrated. No way it is showing it’s age other then in a good way. Complex and so delicious. i only hope that I have one last bottle.

Legacy in stride, gorgeous oxblood to brick in the glass, cedar, smoked hay, blood-iron, minerally like a rare steak. Some musty book leaves. Spice in the back of the palate. Black cherry reverb with a monumental echo. Yet another mic dropped.

Nothing like a Brunello with some age.

Iike a novel - it has chapters!....damp doormat, wet winter sock, moldy basement door just opened, old restaurant cloak room (with the very well-used coats still hanging) and a plaque on the wall that's been stripped of its finish by rainwater - wet wood that's black where it's split open....revealing an overcooked sour cherry cake scent and a long sleeved velour shirt on the tongue. Astounding.

2001, Madonna delle Grazie Il Marroneto Sangiovese. A Brunello with 14 years of aging, doesn't get much better. Still has primary black fruit but layers of secondary flavors. It continues to open up and get more complex through the evening.
