Gattinara Riserva Nebbiolo

Outrageous. Needed 3 hours and then that perfect Nebbiolo sweetness comes though. Crazy good wine.

First vintage since 2008 and wow this is a stunner. Nose is so classic and so old school. Just stunning, dizzying complexity with earth, spice and dead dry leaves. Really floral and just mesmerizing levels of spice. Incredible. Nebbiolo - the platonic ideal. So deep, so layered and the fragrance intensely is like squeezing a flower non stop. Just insane. 9.7 nose. Cannot stop smelling this wine. Rich, concentrated and so deep. Man this gets to every nook and cranny of the palate and turns sweet way on the back of the finish and just stays there. Velvety and ripe tannins. Huge structure suggests 25+ years ahead of this. As this airs the finish gets more and more deep, refined and sweet. Simply a stunning bottle of Gattinara.

Wow with requisite air this has gotten a hit of opulence and rounder while the tannins are velvety and sweet. Stunning wine.

So good. Went down quickly at a party. Insane nose. Deep concentrated cherry fruit. Still years to go.

Yes to everything @Lyle Fass says — Really enchanting aged Nebbiolo nose, pressed rose-petal, hickory, mesquite and dried preserved red berry fruit. Star anise and five spice hints, plus fresh mushrooms, violets and volatile floral notes on the palate. And then tertiary qualities that haunt, including a musty old book quality that’s similar to fine aged Bordeaux.

Refined, perfumed, structured, and nuanced. It had notes of black cherries, raspberries, black tea, roses, and dry clay. Really lovely acidity, juiciness, and minerality—all things I love in wine. 💕🔥

This is a true OMG wine. And OMG! Enveloping nose of chestnut, tar, roses, deep mineral, core of intense deep cherry black cherry fruit. More keeps peeling away with air. Massive palate with insane purity and concentration with massive structure and purity. Incomparable depth and freshness. No rush but damn tasty today.

Very complex Neb. Earth, spices, macerated cherry fruit, balance and length. Perfect accompaniment to Matambre.

Gorgeous cool climate Nebbiolo nose. Cooling. Tea, spice, cherry, leather, very detailed and pretty. Florals as well after some air. Awesome nose. Everything you want. Palate is juicy and oh so concentrated with lovely freshness and ripe tannins. Tons of red cherries. Needs maybe 30-40 minutes to shine and let the fruit get sorted out. Terrific complexity. Outrageous structure. What length and poise. Sick wine.

Just entering the drinking window with an attractive sweetness. Dried fruit, tar, rose petals, appealing rusticity. Lovely work.
