This is a very good Chianti, but I have to admit: stylistically, and for my purposes (matching wine with the food I and my wife cook), I generally like the regular, fresher Chiantis over the darker, more wooded Riservas and the new Gran Selecciones. But this is a very well made Riserva. Dark, slightly sour but ripe cherry fruit intermingled with balsamic. Some gravelly notes. Good intensity and balance in the mouth, but focusing on darker, leathery notes more than fruit. Some puckery tannin comes out at the end.
