Hugel et Fils
Classic Alsace Pinot Gris
Oily rose, orange pith and crushed grape aromas. On palate slightly more straightforward and flat than anticipated, pithy note carries through but could do with a bit more acidity and length.

Mar 28th, 2021Medium lemon with medium intensity developing aromas of honey, straw, pear, apple and quince. Dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol and medium (+) body. On the palate, flavors of wet stone, honey, pear, straw and nectarine. Long finish. Can drink now but has potential for (slight) further aging. Very enjoyable and versatile

Apr 3rd, 2019Pale lemon in color with a light golden tint.
Nose of lemons, grapefruits, light tropical fruits, pineapples, green apples, mineral and spices.
Full bodied and creamy, with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with lemons, citrus, green apples, pears, grapefruits, minerals, spices, vegetables, bitter herbs and black pepper.
Nice length on the finish with almonds.
This is a very enjoyable Pinot Gris from Alsace. Nicely balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel, with a touch of sweetness on the mid palate that balances the acidity well.
Good by itself when not too chilled. A good sipping wine and good for parties, although not cheap.
Will age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years and show more complexity.
High alcohol for Pinot Grigio, but it gives it a nice mouthfeel. Easy to drink, so watch out.
Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.
I paired it with a margarita pizza on a nice afternoon.
14% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
$25.

Wow, this was really nice pinot. Full bodied, apple, stone fruits, ripe to bruised character...med alchol, med acid. Paired great with rainbow trout and its creamy sauce...just enough acid to cut thru. Actually best pairing of the nite...

Dec 2nd, 2017Gorgeous yellow-gold hue. Like toasty walnuts, honey, marzipan, overripe yellow peach, and cacao bean. Slightly off dry, caramelized roasted nuts, tangerine pith, bruised stone fruit, silky texture, and a touch of phenolic bitterness on the back to offset the rich flavors. Ohhhhh I love Alsace PG!
