Hudson Vineyards
Carneros Chardonnay
You’ve got to love this style for what it is now as it’s not the same on release. Candied butterscotch and oxidized/bruised fruit. Very rounded and channeling a poached pear type note. Heavy hand of juicy fruit mixed with salted popcorn kernel and older lemon meringue. Good, but not nearly as good as when it’s a year or two after release. Drink up.

Sep 7th, 2019A little too California - oak is too dominate. More pleasant with food

Oct 5th, 2018Delicious as always and also in a beautiful drinking window at the moment. The acidity has calmed down enabling the fruit to shine. Crisp, but with a very silky texture. Flavors of lemon, almond and wet stone blend perfectly together. Very nice.

Jun 9th, 2018Distinctive slightly smoky and apple spice aromas. Nicely balanced wine with richness but also refreshing character.

Mar 5th, 2018Loaded with Meyer lemon, green & golden apple, touch of beeswax and overripe pear, quince, flint minerality, silky fine chalkiness and a nice full round finish. #LegendarySonomaProducer

1 person found it helpfulJul 23rd, 2016One of the most consistent producers of Chardonnay in my opinion. I've been buying this wine for the last 6-7 years and they have consistently delivered what I look for in a Chard. Straw colored, the nose delivers apple, wet stones, and pear. The wine is lush yet medium-bodied. Flavors of stone fruits, lemon curd and toast on the palate. The oak is evident and present but not overbearing so would likely be a wine that would appeal to both Cali and Burgundian Chardonnay fans. This is an amazing wine. Served ever so slightly chilled.

Apr 16th, 2017Another Chardonnay because it's finally warm in the Northeast! Quite a beauty at seven years old, this gives off notes of honeysuckle, pineapple and vanilla on the nose. On the palate this is rich but not over the top - I think this would appeal to both old and new world fans. Lots going on in the glass - honey, popcorn, pineapple, apricot, vanilla, butterscotch, hints of saline and slate - but not too much of anything - there is an amazing balance. I've had several vintages of Hudson - in addition to those who have sourced from here - and this is hands-down my favorite. Not sure how much life this has ahead of it still but it's great right now. Served at cellar temp - note: when this gets too cold it gets very muted.
