Lovely bright mid gold with a fleck of green. Nose fresh and lifted, clean as a whistle (no Kero) pithy citrus. The palate is alive. Gripping fine acid keeps you coming back to the glass. Not overly complex but beautifully balanced. This bottle still has time in its legs.

My last bottle of this fabulous Riesling from the Great Southern district of Western Australia. See previous Delectable note. White Florals with Lemon and Lime. A faint hint of Petro Chemical. On the palate a delicious nuance of ripe pear with cleansing citric acid. A beautiful dry Riesling drinking at its peak but could hold for a few more years. Bert Werden, the editor of Winestate said “close to perfection “.

Oct 10th, 2022Aromatics of Talc, white flowers a little peach and grapefruit. On the palate citrus and peach with diminishing acid. Just a fabulous mature Riesling with just a hint of petro chemical developing in the form of paraffin. It stamps the Great Southern in Western Australia as one of the premium Riesling districts in Australia. One of the 1001 wines and deserves to be. James Halliday wrote “year in, year out, one of Australia’s best Rieslings”.

Good stuff. Nice zest and weight. Sitting in a slightly awkward spot between lean and racy and big and textural. Perhaps it's an age thing. Good drinking on balmy Ballarat night!

1 person found it helpfulFeb 10th, 2015Very pale lemon. Notes of lime juice and bath talc. Remarkably youthful for 6 years of age with Limey acidity. This is a 20 year wine. Tasting again on 9th February 2018 with consistent notes. Citric acid rolls off the side of the tongue. Still a 20 year old Wine.

Aug 19th, 2015Clean and bright with an early rouch of kero on the nose. Zingy mouthfeel that is fully in balance with a succulent limey flavour. This is twiddling that any B drinker would love...and soonforget their former romance. Love!

Lemon hues to the look and light (almost unfocused) lemon / lime / pear fragrance. A pleasant if dilute (lacked bottom) taste with the lemon a little more to the front than the pear.

Sep 6th, 2015Hello sailor! Now this is a finely tuned razor sharp Aussie Riesling. The Great Southern seems to balance out the mineral/slate and lime/ citrus characters that you find in Oz Rieslings beautifully. Drink now or hold for a decade or two.
