👃Smoky, musky, horsey with red/dark fruit & kirsch
👅Cranberry/raspberry, smoke, bacon, iron, spice, & stones
Hitting all of the notes on DAY 7 but I preferred the unbridled 🐎 intensity of DAY 1
-1st bottle 4 years ago was closed hard.

-Lots of Old World character from this Christophe Baron wine that is part of the Cayuse stable
-This was the first vintage of Sur Echalas Grenache so it will be interesting to see the trail it blazes with more bottle age🍷

Oh horsepower, I hope to be a part of your tribe for a long time. This is a bottle of excellence the reason it didn’t get a 10 because I simply must believe there is something better in the world.

Honestly I don’t know what to make of it. I’m a fan of Rhône, but this is much more primal, raw, or unrefined. Not bad, just unfamiliar.

2012 Horsepower Sur Echalas Grenache
A beautiful young grenache that we drank way too early but it was still the first bottle finished at the table. great complexity and spice but thin on grenache fruit which I think is just a factor of its youth. with a few years it will add weight and I bet the jammy grenache fruit will appear it is will be absolutely killer.
