Spot-on Carneros Pinot: That maraschino cherry thing, candied rose, caramel chew and bit of anise. Jewelry-ruby in hue, salty black olive too. Palate is juicy and almost too-, almost shamefully easy to drink. But then Carneros is about polish, really, a different kind of cool - playing it straight, quiet confidence, etc. This one could use a touch more acid, for me, but with body this nicely medium-lean, and juicy cranberry-kissed-by-mintlime flavor edged with the right amount of nutmeg, I can get over it.

At Scopa in Healdsburg. A little sweet at first. Cherries, medium weight, good with food.
