Henri Giraud
Aÿ Grand Cru Fût De Chêne Brut Champagne Blend
Second sparkling wine tasted at Champagne Henri Giraud. Thank you Mèlissa for the tour and all the information on your winemaking process.
Deep yellow with light to medium liveliness. Rich nose with dark citrus notes, spices and marzipan. Some hay too. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Very rich and creamy on the palate with red apples, spices, anise and well balanced. Mouthwatering minerality and a long finish. Drink till 2027.
This is the MV12 aka the Multi-Vintage 2012 with around 70% from 2012 whole the rest comes from 5 to 10 year old Reserve.

I drank it young...patience is a virtue. Flavors of green apples and oak.

Nov 4th, 2014Love this bubbly. Slightly oxidative style which gives the impression of longer bottle age - caramel and great structure. This is one of my favorite NV bubblies

May 1st, 2022First encounter with this grower champagne and wow did this deliver. Very fine bubbles, touch of apricots, toffee and toasted brioche with a hint of salinity to really bring this together into an impressive bubbly. The style is slightly oxidative so this drinks like a much older champagne. I’ll be tracking more of these down…

Oct 14th, 2021Third New Years choice... and tonight the top. Tight, tiny mousse...aroma of ripe quince, pear, and red apple. Touch of subtle oak... but round, smooth, and creamy on the tongue. Complexity is the difference here... the finish and attack keep morphing as the wine warms. Long, caressing finish.

Dec 31st, 201916/20 (89/100) Аромат яблочного сидра, малосольных огурцов, драгон фрукта и сдобы. Высокая, резкая кислотность. Солоноватость во вкусе. Строгое шампанское, на любителя.

Dec 12th, 2018Apple apple apple apple on nose. Still needs some time for the acidity to integrate with rest of the elements.
